ACTIVITIES

  • Sometimes, the simplest things leave the biggest impression — like the walk from Lefkes to Piso Livadi. This easy hike follows the historic Byzantine Trail. Starting in Lefkes, a gentle downhill path winds through olive trees and wild herbs, with stunning views of the Aegean Sea. Along the way, Prodromos and Marpissa offer great spots for a break — perhaps to try local specialties or relax in the shade with a drink. No rush at all! The walk takes about two hours, so just enjoy the moment — you’re on holiday, after all. Once in Piso Livadi, reward yourself at a seaside taverna with delicious food or a refreshing drink. It’s the perfect place to unwind. And when you're ready, a bus will easily take you back to Parikia.

  • Paros Park, located in the northwest of the island, is a natural gem offering several walking and hiking trails along the scenic coastline. The area boasts dramatic rock formations, rich Mediterranean vegetation, and stunning views of the Aegean Sea. One of the park’s highlights is the historic lighthouse at Cape Korakas, found at the end of the main trail—an ideal spot to enjoy breathtaking sunsets. Just a short walk away lies Monastiri Beach, with its inviting beach club and secluded coves, perfect for swimming and relaxing. There is parking available just outside the park, making it easily accessible for visitors.

  • To explore the beauty of the neighboring islands, we recommend day trips. A must during any stay is a visit to Antiparos. Although Antiparos is small, its charming capital—with picturesque alleys, cozy tavernas, boutiques, and lively bars in the evening—has a unique atmosphere. The island also offers several beaches to discover. Right now, the island is still a bit quieter, but thanks to the great ferry connections, it’s easy to go over even just for a short visit. The car ferry departs from Pounda, the passenger ferry from Parikia. You can find the latest schedule here: https://antiparos.com/paros-antiparos-ferry-boat-schedule/

AUTHENTIC GREECE

  • Koutouki is a hidden alley restaurant that is open all year round. This typical mezedes restaurant is often discovered by chance when strolling through the old town. Although you sit in the middle of the alleys, you can still enjoy privacy here, accompanied by traditional music and delicious dishes at moderate prices. The restaurant also has a cozy indoor area, perfect for a comfortable meal regardless of the weather. The restaurant is run by a team of women.

  • Koukoutsi is our favorite spot for a relaxing evening and a good drink. It’s a bit hidden in Parikia, but once you find it, you’ll keep coming back. The cozy atmosphere and the small plates of local delicacies served with every drink — a classic Greek touch — make every visit a special treat.

  • Vegetarian stuffed cabbage rolls, filled with rice, often accompanied by raisins and seeds, or sometimes with minced meat, in the traditional grandmother style, is a delicious dish that unfortunately isn’t found in every taverna on the island. However, at Statheros Restaurant in Naoussa, you'll find a charming spot with a lovely indoor space and tables right by the sea. On the menu, you can enjoy these tasty cabbage rolls, served in an exquisite sauce, making for a truly memorable meal.

  • The family taverna Tomortari offers live Greek music every Saturday. A few musicians sit inside the tavern with their instruments, playing traditional Greek songs. Dancing often breaks out, creating an authentic Greek experience. The tavern features a large menu and daily specials, all of which are delicious. The service is excellent and very friendly.

BEACHES

  • Although this name might be a bit misleading given Parikia’s charming village character, the “city beaches” are the perfect example of how small paradises are often right on your doorstep. Sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and a relaxed atmosphere invite you to stay. Sunbeds and umbrellas here are often more affordable than at other beaches. The Blue Flag certification also guarantees excellent water quality.

Whether you prefer the lively Livadia Beach with its cozy restaurants and bars —just a 280-meter walk down the road towards the sea — or the quieter sections along the coast where the water is shallow and crystal clear, Parikia has something for everyone.

  • Kolimbithres Beach is a must-see, famous for its unusual granite rock formations that create small coves. There is a water sports provider, and renting a pedal boat is a great way to explore the coastline. There are also a few small restaurants nearby, and we highly recommend Vigla. The Maremma restaurant is also open, offering a great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

  • Golden Beach is a long, golden sandy beach, just like its name suggests. When it is not windy, it is perfect for a relaxing beach day. There are a few beach bars, and the traditional Stella Taverna is nearby.

  • The bay of Agia Irini is truly beautiful, with a fine sandy beach and views of passing boats and a small chapel. You'll also find Taverna Laris there, a lovely spot right by the sea, shaded by palm trees. The menu features classic Greek dishes. It's a perfect place to relax over lunch and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. There are affordable sunbeds with service available, and a large parking area nearby.

  • Aliki offers three beautiful beaches, all within walking distance from the bus station: the central sandy beach, Paralia Aliki, located in the village right next to waterfront cafés and tavernas, which also offers a few sunbeds for rent; the quieter Agios Nikolaos Beach to the west, featuring a mix of sand and pebbles; and the unspoiled Piso Aliki Beach to the south, a sandy beach with a relaxed atmosphere. The latter two beaches are natural and undeveloped, with no sunbed rentals, inviting visitors to spend the day by the sea and enjoy a meal at the nearby tavernas, which are especially known for their seafood specialties.

COFFEE AND DRINKS

  • Café Cosa in Parikia is open all year round and offers a wonderful spot right on the seafront promenade—even in May—making it the perfect place to enjoy breakfast with a view of the sea. Whether you prefer sweet or savory, there's something for every taste, with the generous pancake portions being a particular highlight. During the day, the café also serves snacks like sandwiches and fresh salads. In the evening, it transforms into a relaxed bar where you can watch the sunset—sometimes even accompanied by a live DJ.

  • Just a few meters from Adelfia Studios, you'll find the cozy Greek Café Zannet. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or simply for a glass of wine or ouzo in the evening, the café offers good food, great service, and reasonable prices. Especially convenient: you can also grab drinks to take to the beach — whether it's coffee, beer, or even a cocktail to go — and enjoy them during your beach day or while watching the sunset.

  • Ya Soumitsa in Aliki isn’t a typical island bar — it’s a quirky, fun spot that feels like stepping into a different era. With its retro charm, eclectic decor, colorful details, and a playful mix of vintage touches, it’s the kind of place that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The soundtrack is a delightfully cheesy blend of pop hits from different decades, instantly putting you in a carefree, holiday mood.

  • Alexandros Café, located in a restored historic windmill at the entrance of Parikia Bay, offers a unique and welcoming atmosphere. The terrace provides impressive 360° views of the harbor and the Aegean Sea — a great spot to enjoy the sunset.

The café’s relaxed yet lively vibe, especially in the evening as the sky changes colors, makes it an ideal place to unwind and take in the surroundings. It’s best to arrive around sunset to get a good seat on the terrace and fully appreciate the view.

DELICACIES

  • This traditional sweet pastry is found in many regions of Greece, especially in the Cyclades and Crete. Each area has its own variation, often based on local ingredients like Mizithra cheese. The version we discovered here on Paros is made with a delicate shortcrust pastry that perfectly complements the creamy, sweet filling.

  • Ragoussis Bakery – A Taste of Paros Since 1912

For anyone exploring Paros, a visit to Ragoussis Bakery is always a good idea. Family-run for over a century, Ragoussis has been part of everyday island life since 1912, offering fresh, handmade goods that bring together tradition and modern flavor.

With locations in Parikia’s old town, central Naoussa, and along the main road between the two, it’s easy to stop by before setting off. Whether you’re heading to the beach, out for a hike, or planning a picnic, Ragoussis is the perfect place to pick up something fresh and satisfying.

You’ll find everything from crusty breads and warm pies to sandwiches, bougatsa, baklava, and even homemade ice cream. Vegan options are also available, as well as coffee, juices, and chilled drinks to go.

Ragoussis is more than a bakery – it’s a trusted part of daily life on Paros, and always worth a visit before your next island adventure.

  • Discover a Taste of Paros: Gouna: One local delicacy you shouldn’t miss on Paros is Gouna — sun-dried mackerel, lightly seasoned and grilled to perfection. Fresh fish is opened, salted, and laid out in the Aegean sun, absorbing the sea breeze before being cooked over charcoal. The result is a unique, slightly smoky flavour that brings you right to the heart of island life.

Enjoy Gouna in a seaside taverna with a squeeze of lemon and a glass of ouzo or local wine — a true taste of Paros.

  • When in Greece, a classic Greek salad is a must. It is usually served with feta, which gives it its typical tangy flavor.

On Paros, some tavernas offer a version made with local soft cheese. This makes the salad milder, almost creamy in taste – an interesting alternative that’s well worth trying. Both versions have their appeal. Whether as a refreshing snack or to share over a relaxed meal at a taverna.

We enjoyed this Greek salad at the restaurant Maremma with a view of Kolymbithres Beach.

  • Arodo is a beautiful restaurant located between Parikia and Marcello Beach, with a truly unique atmosphere. The seating is right by the water, offering stunning sea views and unforgettable sunsets. One of the highlights is getting there—arriving by water taxi from Parikia takes you straight to the restaurant’s dock.

The menu features traditional Greek dishes, with a strong focus on seafood, and also includes sushi. For us, it’s a truly special place with a unique charm. You can also combine a visit with a beach day, as the restaurant offers sunbeds in the bay. You can also reach Arodo on foot from Adelfia Studios. It is a 30-minute walk along a beautiful coastal path.

  • Statheros in Naoussa stands out with many unique features — a one-of-a-kind location with tables right by the sea and a stunning view. Charming tables and decorative elements add to the atmosphere. The restaurant uses the classic tavern chairs we all love. The service is very good, and the menu is impressive. Its excellent beachfront location is perfect for lunch if you’re spending the day on Parikia Beach and want to escape the midday sun. In the evening, the taverna has a special charm, where you can enjoy the sunset and watch the sailboats drift by. The friendly hosts serve delicious food at fair prices.

  • A very delicious fish taverna on the seafront promenade, offering amazing fish dishes. The restaurant places special emphasis on the lovingly decorated floral arrangement in front, creating an inviting and charming atmosphere.

  • This taverna right on the sandy beach is called A Fish Taverna, but it also offers an incredible selection of special, traditional dishes, making it hard to decide what to order. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the beach while savoring fantastic food.

  • Tsipido in Marpissa is a charming little taverna with limited seating. Besides classic Greek dishes, they offer a “Meze platter” to share — available with fish, meat, or vegetarian options. It’s a great way to sample a variety of flavors if you can’t decide on just one dish. The service is very friendly, and the house wine is quite pleasant. The taverna is also easily accessible by bus from and to Parikia, The nearest bus stop is just a few meters away from the taverna.

  • Anna & Giorgos Taverna is one of the most popular and authentic taverns in the region of Marpissa. Locals appreciate it as one of the best places for grilled meats and simple, traditional Greek cuisine. The tavern is within walking distance from Marpissa or Piso Livadi—perfect after a walk or drive through the countryside or a stroll through the villages. Anna and Giorgos welcome their guests with honest food, local wine, and homemade souma. Many visitors return regularly because they know they will find good, hearty food and a warm, familiar atmosphere here. Reservations are recommended to secure a table at this popular spot.

VILLAGES

  • Lefkes is a charming village known for its traditional white stone houses and narrow alleys. With its breathtaking views of the island and surrounding landscape, the village offers a peaceful atmosphere. A handful of restaurants, each with its own unique character, offer delicious local cuisine, with beautiful views or set in the village’s authentic surroundings. It is still wonderfully quiet at this time of year, but in the summer months, it can get much livelier, with more visitors.

Just a few steps from the harbor, a beautiful, untouched sandy beach invites visitors to relax — perfect for those looking to enjoy peace and nature. There is always at least one taverna open throughout the year. The local restaurants are equipped with wind-protected areas, making it the perfect spot to enjoy lunch with a view of the sea, no matter the weather.

  • Kostos is a small inland village that, in our opinion, is underrated. Sure, it’s small and you can walk through it in just a few minutes, but it’s definitely worth a stop. The charming village square, with its churches and two traditional kafenia, has a special atmosphere—cats wandering around, children playing. Last year, Kostos was even used as a filming location for an upcoming Amazon Prime series.
